Once a communication infrastructure is installed, it needs to be measured and tested. This is not only to ensure a good, reliable, and fast data connection but also to comply with standards and norms such as ISO, CENELEC, and TIA and to qualify for manufacturer warranties. Thorough knowledge of measurement and testing methods is essential for this:
From signal loss (insertion loss) to crosstalk (near-end crosstalk/NEXT) and loss due to impedance variations in the connection (return loss): being able to interpret measurement results and determine any necessary follow-up actions is an indispensable skill. Kannegieter College offers various theory courses and practical training dedicated to measuring and testing cabling infrastructures. From twisted-pair cabling to fiber optic cabling and from the Fluke Networks DSX-5000/8000 to the Fluke Networks CertiFiber Pro Optical Loss Test Set (OLTS) and Fluke Networks OptiFiber Pro Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR). These courses and training sessions are suitable for installers, engineers, and technicians involved in certification, testing, and troubleshooting of cabling systems.
Sufficient basic knowledge of twisted-pair and fiber optic cabling is required to attend these courses and training sessions. Each course or training session concludes with an exam. Upon successfully passing this exam, you will receive the official Fluke Networks Certified Cabling Test Technician certificate.
